About Karla Vaughan

Karla was brought to grief coaching after experiencing the sudden, unexpected loss of her husband of 33 years.  Her grief was compounded by the cumulative grief of having lost her newborn son 25 years earlier.

Realizing she needed to heal herself she discovered Pat Sheveland's B.R.E.A.T.H.E. Coaching Model for Grief™  program which helped her not just move on from grieving her loved ones, but to move forward with them.

This experience lit a desire in Karla to help others who have experienced loss in their lives. She is a graduate of the B.R.E.A.T.H.E. program, the Advanced Grief Coach certification program and the Grief Educator Program with David Kessler.

Karla transforms her own life experiences into a beacon of hope for those facing loss and hardship. With deep empathy and an open heart, she sees you, meets you where you are, and helps you find the strength to move forward.

Coaching vs Counseling

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE

Both coaching and counseling offer a safe space when life feels heavy, but they focus on different parts of your journey.

Coaching is about gently looking forward. It meets you where you are today, honors what you’ve been through, and helps you imagine what life could look like moving ahead. A grief coach doesn’t replace a therapist. They walk beside you, helping you rediscover hope, rebuild your strength, and take small, meaningful steps toward a life that feels like yours again.

Counseling helps you process and heal from the past. It’s more about understanding your emotions, facilitating emotional healing and is often associated with mental health concerns which requires specific training and licensing.
